Associated with the Northallerton Town Band for about 60 years, resigned in 1950. Bandmaster from 1923 to 1950 (including Contests 1928 Harrogate 2nd Place & Ripponden 3rd Place, 1929 Crystal Palace with Prize and Harrogate & Ripponden Honours. His Grandfather, George Barker, was a Conductor and Composer. His father was Bugle Major Albert Barker of the Volunteer Battalion Band of the Green Howards Regiment based in Northallerton
