Gravel Lane band was founded by William Bowen MBE in the 1930s. Later as Manchester YMCA band it disbanded in late 1971 to early 1972. This was quite a good and popular band, but deteriorated in the late 1960s. They disbanded partly because of parking problems near their new practice room.
