In the quickstep contest he awarded the first prize of £2 to Wyke Temperance Band, who played "King of the Seas" , the second prize of £1 he divided between Kingston Mills, who played "Viva Pettee" and Linthwaite, who played "Washington Greys." The 30s. offered as a prize for the neatest costume was awarded to the Trawden Band.
