Born in Swinton, Manchester in 1851, died 1920.
Joined Stalybridge Old Band. In 1871 he resigned and formed Stalybridge Borough Band. Did first rehearsal with Besses o th Barn 24th February 1884.Resigned from Black Dyke in August 1888. - John Gladney succeeded him.
