This suite of three movements takes its title from the note above some of the psalms which refers to the chief musician. The movements are: I Introit - Psalm 1OO, verse 4. II Sacrifice - Psalm 51, verse 17. III Worship - Psalm 29, verse 2. An unusual feature of the suite is the use of choric-speaking which adds to the effectiveness of the presentation. Written for the Chicago Staff Band to perform at the retirement festival of Commissioner Richard E. Holz, it includes three of his favourite tunes: 'Bread of heaven', 'I bring Thee all' and 'Boston'.
